Meet our Counseling & Advisory Team:

The ​School Counseling Department provides direct and indirect service delivery to all students at Great Lakes Learning Academy (GLLA) in the three counseling domains as endorsed by the American School Counselors Association (ASCA): Academic, College/Career, and Personal/Social.

Academic:

• Help students set academic goals, monitor progress, and develop study and time-management skills
• Ensure all students have access to advanced coursework, special education services, and support interventions
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to implement strategies that address learning barriers

Career:

• Provide career exploration activities (i.e. Pathful) starting in middle school through high school
  
• Assist students in developing career plans, understanding college and vocational pathways, and accessing financial aid resources
  
• Partner with local businesses and organizations to offer internships, job shadowing, and career fairs

​Social/Emotional:

• Deliver SEL lessons, provide short-term counseling, and refer students to outside services as needed
  
• Teach communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills through individual and group counseling
